Kate's bio
Kate shares what she has learned in inspiring, flowing, mindful classes and workshops with close attention to alignment and lots of encouragement to open to the very highest place in yourself you can.
Kate went to her first yoga class in 1998. She loved how it reconnected her with her body, calmed her mind and simply made her feel better. Three years later she followed her heart to India and undertook a year's intensive study and practice of Astanga Vinyasa Yoga there (with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois) and in Crete (with Radha & Pierre). Upon returning home she was asked by her teacher to cover a yoga class and loved it so much she gave up her business career to teach full-time.
In 2005, despite competence in many advanced yoga postures, Kate had some significant health issues and realised that she needed to move her practice in a new direction. It led her to learn to meditate properly and to heal and awaken on much deeper levels through exploring deeply yogic, Buddhist and shamanic practices. She worked with Bridget Woods-Kramer and other teachers of the Anusara yoga method to learn how to align her own and her student’s bodies with skill and precision, and to practice and teach from a place of deep kindness, openness and joy. Today her most important influences are Clive Sheridan, who has reignited her exploration of the amazing art of pranayama (breathwork) and guided her into a deeper understanding of the Tantric heart of yoga, and Lama Lena (Yeshe Katyub), who teaches meditations from Tantric and non-dual (Dzog chen) lineages of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Alongside teaching yoga, though her business the Mindset Coach Kate works with coaching and leadership development approaches to help individuals and organisations create positive change. She combines coaching, mindfulness and yoga on Brainworks Retreats, which she co-founded with her friends from BrainWorks neurotherapy.

Testimonials
What her teachers say
‘With Kate you have the opportunity to learn with a practitioner whose devotion to her practice is very realistic. Kate, like so many of us, seeks harmony within the world rather than by rejecting it. You will benefit enormously from her teaching and her practice through her experience of the challenge of the modern yogi - to be in the world while cultivating a deeper appreciation how to be, how to practice and how to heal.’
– Ram Chatlani (Kate's principal spiritual teacher 2005-2012)
'It’s impossible not to be impressed by Kate, she is someone who challenges herself and brings to her life and work integrity, a bright intention and a presence earned through her devotion to her personal work and the gifts and insights she embodies. She is fully identified with her path and continues to focus on her personal transformation. Since we first met in 2010 she has shown continued faith and perseverance, ever moving towards alignment in her life. She has much of value to share with others on their path too as her destiny and intention conjoin to bring her talents into play and offer us the work she came to do.'
- Jonathan Snell, Executive mentor (Kate's mentor since 2010)
What her students say
'Thank you for all you have given this year. It's been life changing.'
- Tracey (Totnes class attendee 2012)
'For a class to be sweet, clear, inspiring and effective is, for me, a clear sign of a teacher's own discipline and expansive vision of the art of yoga. I thank Kate for having introduced me to her passion for Anusara yoga: she's an excellent guide and a source of inspiration on the journey!'
- Sylvain (Totnes class attendee 2012)
'As our private yoga teacher over the past 18 months, Kate has helped both of us heal physical issues and encouraged and inspired us to build a daily practice. There have been some amazing results from following her advice and practices- for example David didn't suffer any jetlag on a recent business trip to HongKong, which was a first! Kate has a wealth of knowledge about the body and the practices of yoga, coupled with insight into the deeper teachings of yoga, and we would highly recommend her.'
- David & Vivien (private students since 2010)
'Guess what my shoulder feels much better - the shoulder workshop was a gift, and a very timely one too. Thank you.'
- Pam (attended Secrets of Splendid Shoulders workshop in 2011)
