Kate Hewett (RYT 500) is
devoted to
making the highest teachings of yoga relevant to our modern lives. She
has an
intuitive, informed and inspiring style of teaching, grounded
in twelve years of yoga and meditation practice and training
in
the UK, US and
India. She started
teaching in 2001, discovered
Anusara yoga in 2005 and was converted on the spot! Kate is
grateful to John Friend,
Bridget Woods-Kramer and Clare Murphy for their continuing inspiration
and support on
this path. Kate was one of the first 'Anusara-Inspired' teachers in the
UK and now, with over 650 accredited hours in this method, is working
towards becoming a Certified Anusara teacher.
In each
class or workshop you can expect to find a key philosophical theme
woven into a flowing practice with clear alignment instructions and
playful challenges. Kate
can
also work therapeutically with a wide range of physical injuries,
imbalances and conditions, most effectively in a one-to-one private
session.
Among the many wonderful beings who have shown Kate the way over the
years are: Abby Daniels, who first inspired her to practice regularly,
Shri K Pattabhi Jois, who taught her about discipline and the ego;
Nancy Gilgoff, who taught her about energetics and touch; Kathleen Hogan, who helped
her understand attitude, alignment and action;
John
Friend, who showed her that yoga can be both fun and truly
transformative; Bridget Woods-Kramer, who continues to show her the
heart of yoga; Carlos Pomeda, who teaches the sacred texts of yoga from
an authentic and open-hearted Tantric viewpoint; Swami Nishchalananda
who showed her the power of mantra; a number of shamanic
teachers who have
helped her face up to her fears and open to the beauty of
life;
and Ram
Chatlani, who has been a major inspiration and
guide over the past 5 years -
for which she is eternally grateful!
In addition to teaching
yoga, Kate helps
emerging social entrepreneurs in
Devon turn their dreams into a reality. She lives in the woods on
Dartmoor and travels regularly to
teach workshops in London and elsewhere.
